KCP12 Recall Notice

NEW YORK, June 10 (Reuters) - Salton Inc. (SFP.N: Quote, Profile, Research), a maker of household appliances, on Friday said it was recalling nearly 100,000 Kenmore 12-cup percolators because they could put pregnant women at risk for lead poisoning.

Salton, also known for marketing electric grills named after former boxing champion George Foreman, said the percolators targeted in the recall carried model number KCP12.

They were sold through Sears stores after shipping between July 2001 and April 2004, Salton said in a statement.

Salton said beginning Tuesday, June 14, consumers who have the percolator should contact its consumer relations department at 1-800-233-9054 for further help.

Percolators should NOT be returned to Sears Retail Stores.

Consumers who contact Salton will receive a pre-paid shipping label for returning the unit to Salton. Replacement percolators will be shipped to those consumers as soon as replacements are available.

To determine which units are affected, consumers should check the model # on the BOTTOM of the UNIT, NOT the box. This can be accomplished by opening the bottom of the gift box and checking the bottom of the percolator.
